Don't Let a Bathroom Remodel Stress you Out

Want to remodel your bathroom, but bathroom remodeling stress getting you down?! Remodeling your bathroom can be super stressful, I’m not going to lie to you. I hear people all the time talking about how remodeling projects come in over budget and take a lot longer than they had anticipated.

Well, I am here to tell you that if you do your homework and plan carefully, your remodel can be a rewarding experience!

It is my goal for homeowners all across the U.S. to learn how to plan for a bathroom remodel properly. Living with a bathroom you hate puts you in a bad mood every time you walk into it!

Free Resource

If you want to remodel your bathroom, why not go ahead and start planning now?! I have created a free checklist that includes every component in a bathroom. If you have a super ability to create checklists, make one yourself, but please start a master checklist for the project!

The first thing I asked Emily was why she wanted/needed to remodel her bathroom.

“Space!” was her quick response. Emily also didn’t want to overspend. Beyond that, she knew there were things she wanted, like a tub, natural light, and a beautiful bathroom she loves when she walks into the room. The thing is, Emily didn’t make every single one of those things the most important thing. Gaining more space was her most important goal. So if those other items caused her to go over budget, she could live without them as long as she got more space, and she would still be super happy with her bathroom.

See how tight space is in Emily’s bathroom? Yikes!

Knowing her main goal was to get more space has made many of the decisions much more straightforward.

To hear some other pros talk about this very subject, go to Young House Love podcast #156. About 14 minutes in, they talk about how they reduced and managed their own stress for their bathroom remodel.

In a later post, I’m going to talk about how we changed the layout of Emily’s bathroom so she can get the extra space she wants, talk about what part of the project Emily and Jared are going to do themselves, and what they will hire out, review the costs, and link to all the sources. You can find that post here.

In the meantime, if you’d like to enjoy seeing pics of remodels we’ve done in the past, check out our remodel page here.

I look forward to spending more time with you over the coming weeks, months, and years helping you learn how to overcome bathroom remodel stress. And approach a remodel so you can either hire a General Contractor with confidence or even act as your own general contractor and save yourself some money!

It is my goal for homeowners all across the U.S. to learn how to plan for a bathroom remodel properly. Living with a bathroom you hate puts you in a bad mood every time you walk into it!

To help, I have created an absolutely free resource: Perfectly Plan Your Bathroom Remodel, and you can get it here. It walks you through the exact 9 steps I use for every bathroom remodel I begin with a client.

As a matter of fact, I used Perfectly Plan Your Bathroom Remodel, for the bathroom remodel I’m starting with my niece, Emily. Number one on the list of 9 steps, is to state your goal for the space; so, the first thing I asked Emily was why she wanted/needed to remodel her bathroom.

“Space!” was her quick response. She also didn’t want to overspend.
