About Sanctuary Homes

Welcome to Sanctuary Homes! We’re Tony and Starr Tingle, and we live in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Here’s where we try to keep the world up-to-date on all the incredible homes and pools we are privileged to design, build, remodel. And we’ll throw in some glimpses of the life that happens in between, like rescue dogs and livestock shows, maybe a little UK basketball love, or our personal design favorites and finds.

Everyone who know us calls us the Chip and Joanna Gaines of Kentucky. The similarities are real, but Tony is nowhere near as crazy as Chip! While not as crazy or as famous (and we are okay with that), we do bring that same sense of excitement about your project, our hard-earned experience, and a desire to create a special project just for you. In nearly two decades of service, we have been blessed with some of the best clients, some of whom we count as dear friends. That’s better than crazy and famous any day.

Our obsession with all things home started back in the late 90s, when we bought an old farm house and lovingly and painstakingly remodeled it from the studs out. Several moves, three gorgeous girls, and so many cool home projects later, we’ve honed our craft and our business to the point that we’ve begun educating other builders on the methods behind our success.

In late 2018, Tony amped up his skill set to include the installation of custom fiberglass pools. He is serious about the backyard becoming the center of the home. It is a place where homeowners can learn to relax and rejuvenate, exercise, and make memories with family and friends.

This year, 2019, we are adding our first digital course. We have acknowledged that while we are exceptionally good at what we do, we also know we don’t have any special super powers. We are just two detail-oriented people with a passion to make a home a sanctuary for its people. We believe there are other like-minded homeowners who want to do what we did with our very first project: manage it ourselves. We didn’t hire a general contractor, but we sure wished we’d had the tools! I don’t mean the about hammer and saw tools now, I’m talking about a list of what to bid, how to bid, about where to find good contractors and how to interview them, and about how to specify exactly what that sub-contractor is going to do. We have those tools, and we’d love to make them available to you. We are sure if you’ll enroll in our comprehensive digital course, {name of course}, you will learn what you need to remodel your bath like a pro.
